⬇️ Enhanced IDS Import

We’ve significantly improved the flexibility of Plannerly's IDS import feature!
  • Improved Import Success:
Previously, only 20-30% of IDS files could be imported due to strict adherence to the IDS schema. Now, nearly 100% of IDS files can be imported.
  • Enhanced Flexibility:
Import any IDS file and seamlessly edit specifications using our intuitive, multi-specification single-view interface.
  • Database-Driven Updates:
Modify information requirements in one place, with changes automatically applied across all related specifications.
  • bSDD Integration:
Make use of the simple autocomplete feature tied to the buildingSMART Data Dictionary (bSDD) for streamlined editing from the IFC schema.
  • Export & Verification:
Export refined IDS files for use in other tools...
  • or use the Verify module to automatically check models against specifications 😊
Import IDS Example
If you encounter any IDS files that can’t be imported, please share them with us - your feedback helps us improve!
This upgrade reflects our commitment to supporting buildingSMART workflows - with the greatest flexibility and user-friendliness possible!

🧑‍💻 Custom Data Fields

We’ve launched a major update that allows teams to define and apply custom fields across their project work breakdown structure.
Watch a quick intro to this release here:
Here are the new field data types you can use:
  • Text
  • Number
  • Boolean
  • Date
  • Cost (with currency)
  • Picklist
  • URL (single or multi)
  • File upload (single or multi)
This update gives your team next-level flexibility for planning, tracking, and delivering projects.
Plus, don’t forget, we already offer these default field types:
  • Geometry
  • Description
  • Information
  • Documents
You can also manage fields to show up or stay hidden on folders, task groups, rows, or even individual tasks.
💡 Join us for a live demo next week to see how it all works: https://plannerly.com/events/
This is just the beginning - we’re committed to delivering a user-friendly interface on top of a powerful, flexible database designed to handle project planning and management at any scale.
Thanks for your feedback. Stay tuned for more exciting updates to come!

😉 Smarter, Cleaner Task Experience

We’ve revamped the task modal layout to make it clearer, easier to use, and more efficient:
  1. All tracking fields (status, milestone, assignment, dates) are now neatly grouped in a tracking panel at the top right.
  2. The task body is now cleaner and more user-friendly, with extra space for descriptions, checklists, documents, and info requirements.
  3. The modal is bigger and ready to scale with some exciting new features coming soon! 😉

Bigger task view
-
Built for the future
. We’ve made room for upcoming features (like custom fields!) so the interface stays simple and intuitive, no matter how your project evolves. Yes, we’re introducing flexible data fields soon to make the already powerful database even more versatile for your growing project needs. Stay tuned!
This is just one step towards creating the best user interface for flexible, powerful project planning, management, and control.
Model Isolation & Visualization:
isolating red/yellow/green model feedback when clicking into tasks is now up to 30x faster, improving usability and efficiency (now, almost no matter how many linked elements you are checking!).
Improved Linked Element Loading:
linked elements now load faster in the lists (previously loading 1,000's of these elements would cause stability challenges), - this improvement enhances your task navigation and the overall performance of the verify module!
Faster Model Checking
Better Task-to-Rule Connections:
Improved Task Rule connections ensure more reliable workflows.
Bug Fixes:
Fixed an issue where deleting model rules could unintentionally affect task rules unless a new model rule was added.
Enjoy a smoother and faster experience with these updates!

⚡️ Major Verify Module Upgrades

The headlines:
  • Targeted Task Checks
: We’ve overhauled the checking process completely!
  • Rechecking Indicator
: A refresh icon now appears on tasks as they are being checked, ensuring clarity on what is being checked.
  • Performance Boost
: Updates are now up to
    100x faster
😱 in some cases (for massive models), making workflows significantly more efficient.
More details:
Firstly, we’ve completely updated the model checking engine. Instead of rechecking the entire model after every change, we now focus on the specific tasks affected, flagging and re-verifying them directly.
You’ll notice an orange refresh icon spinning on individual tasks whenever updates are made to that task, streamlining the workflow significantly:
Updates per task
The result? A big boost in speed. In some cases, checks are now many times faster - sometimes up to 100x faster - yes, really!
In models requiring over 8 million checks, as we’ve seen with some customers, this optimization is hundreds of times more efficient overall.
Two things to note...
Indexing Note:
(Still Required) when uploading a new model, there’s still an initial indexing step. This prepares the model for web viewing and powers the checking engine. It may take some time for very large models - but it’s a one-time process and you will get an email when the process is complete.
Model Rule Updates:
If you update model rules - this will obviously mean that all tasks will need to be rechecked:
Updates per task_model rule
So to summarize, we’ve completely revamped the model checking process to make it faster and more efficient, added a new rechecking indicator but note that two key things remain unchanged: 1) when uploading a new model, an initial indexing step is still required to prepare it for web viewing and enable the checking engine and 2) updating model rules will still trigger a full recheck of all tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance, as expected.
Enjoy these improvements, and keep the feedback coming!
By request from Trevor Woods, we’ve enhanced the
Info Export
to include Information Requirement Tags (highlighted below):
image
We understand the importance of organization and attention to detail when it comes to managing information requirements.
This means when you export your data, the information requirements grid now also carries these tags for a more complete understanding - making it easier for you to categorize and analyze your data.
With this new enhancement, we hope to improve the user experience and make the process more efficient.
To use this feature, simply add tags to your information requirements when creating them (tags allow for easy filtering and sorting of your information requirements). Then, when exporting your data, the tags will automatically be included in the Info export.

At Plannerly, we're constantly working towards providing our users with a comprehensive platform.
Thanks, Trevor, for helping us make Plannerly even more useful!

SmartField Linking for Milestone Descriptions

With SmartFields, you can now auto-link Milestone Descriptions from your Scope directly into your Project Document Sections - even your Title pages! This feature makes it super simple to keep your project docs organized and synced with milestone data.
When setting up a new Doc Section, just drop in a SmartField for Milestone Descriptions (see image). It’ll automatically pull the descriptions from your project’s Scope, so there’s no need to waste time copying and pasting. Plus, you can tweak the format of how the descriptions show up to fit your document’s layout.
Using SmartFields means your project documents stay up-to-date with the latest info from the Scope. If you make changes to milestone descriptions, those updates will show up in all linked documents automatically. Easy and efficient!

We’ve made some powerful improvements to how you format tables in the editor – all to help you work faster and more easily!
🔲 Format Multiple Table Cells at Once
Save time! You can now select several cells (using your mouse or Shift + Arrow keys) and apply styles in one go — like font size, bold, italics, alignment, or background colour.
image
📐 Better Alignment Control
Aligning text in your table just got way easier! Now, whether you use the popup menu or the toolbar, your alignment will work consistently - no more weird formatting conflicts
🛠️ Other Fixes and Improvements
• We removed an unnecessary overlay that used to show up while hovering - even when no table was present.
• We fixed an issue where table resizing didn’t work properly in certain dialogs.
These updates make working with tables much more intuitive and less frustrating - so you can spend more time creating and less time fixing formatting!
